Some useful information

Just some info some people might be interested in. At Nampa Saturday I broke one of my 4 week old Reynolds carbon wheels (rim actually). Several years ago I had researched around and found an insurance company (Safeco in my case) that wrote a rider to my home owners policy for all my carbon wheel sets and my road and cross carbon frames. I just did the frames not the whole bike. Reynolds is replacing my rim for $700. I called my insurance agent today and the underwriter called me, I explained what happened and a check for $700 is on the way. This rider added to my homeowners insurance, maybe $16 to $20 per year, but it was nice to have something like this covered.
Ask your insurance agent about it and be very clear in what you are looking for. They kept telling me I was covered for theft, etc. I kept explaining that I was basically looking for "Collision" on my equipment. Not every insurance company was willing to do it. Most would not, yours might not.
Since quite a few of us are riding bikes that cost more than our cars this might be useful to some.
