When do the tuesday night practices start up?

Sept 1st??

eric's picture

Usually it starts the Tuesday following the Bogus Hillclimb... but with them moving that back a week this year that puts us on Sept 1st. Probably just a matter of who's willing to go get the barriers out of storage, etc and rally the troops. :) It's cross season!

Also, for those that didn't notice I just added a bunch of races to the calendar by request of Hal. Check it out and post questions on the individual threads. We've got lots of great racing lined up this season for sure! http://idahocyclocross.com/calendar/2009-09

Tuesday Night Training

BradG's picture

I might suggest that we alternate Tuesday night training between Camel's Back Park and Eagle Island State Park. Last year, there was about equal numbers of riders split between the two. It could accomplish a greater variety of training, and put more people in the same place each week.

If your cross training plan calls for one day a week of hard training,(like 2 x 20-25 minute race pace intervals) then Eagle Island works well.

I was out at Eagle Island two weekends ago and there are already tire marks on the unmarked course! Some of you guys are getting an early start!

Tuesday Night Training

Sounds great to me Brad. I will make sure this happens. So we are on for this tuesday nite at Camels then next Tuesday night (8th) at Eagle Island. Any other ideas/comments.

Cross Practice

I am willing to pick up the barriers for this Tuesday if that is the plan at Camelsback. I think practicing at both locations is a great idea. Let me know how I can help out.

re: cross practice

Good man Charles; I had just logged in to volunteer to set up the first practice since I am getting a lot of questions about this.

Thanks for stepping up.

Hi all Crossers:

We will have a course set (roughly .35-.40 mile loop) up for one hourish at the Park on Warm Springs Mesa. We have sand, off camber cornering, barriers and grass. All are welcome to come out for another option to work on the skills required to be an effective rider.

Thursday at 6 pm, .Sterno and I will be setting up the course, ie. painting the grass for corners. Come on up if you want to help design it.

Thanks
Doug L

We will post each week to confirm the workouts.

Mesa Course

Sounds cool, where is that park at, up on top somewhere? I would volunteer to help with barriers but have no vehicle that really works too hot to move them around. So the first "scheduled" pratice is this Tuesday the 1st of Sept at which location then, Camelsback or this park on Warm Spring Mesa somewhere?

Tuesday niter

Okay all you cross freaks, Gordon and I will pick up barriers around 5pm and be at Camels to set up for first Tuesday niter. Doug LaMott and I are also setting up a short course up on Warm Springs Mesa at a local park there for Thursday night. Take Warm Springs past the golf course and take the 1st left turn up the Mesa and follow up. You end up taking a right hand turn (don't ask me exactly where). I am reachable on cell #724-2833. Hope to see faces. Crossssssssss is back!!!!!

Cross Practice

There was a pretty good showing last night for our first practice session. Sooooo for now its every Tuesday nite at Camels starting at 6pm. I am also wanting to extend practice sessions at Eagle Island on Thursday nites. How does that sound? We would have some cheapy pvc pipe for barriers (ease of travel). So that would give all you crossers two chances to practice knowing that there will be someone there. Please pipe in with your comments.

Camels vs. Eagle Island

I think the Tues and Thurs plan is probably much better than trying to share or alternate. I look forward to joining in on both sessions here and there! Good call.

Thusdays at Eagle Island

So is this a done deal then, not going to make it this week but would like to for next week.

Thanks!

The PVC barriers are nice

The PVC barriers are nice early in the season when you miss and they fall apart:)

Tuesday-Thursday

Soooooo,

I guess somebody made stearno the cross god for this year! Wow, I go out of town for one day and all "you know what "breaks loose! Easy Stearno, I just giving you some good old fashion Kansas ribbing! I like the Tuesday Thursday schedule, except both nights are bad for High School Varsity sports. I have one of those(kids), so I'll just exempt myself from whinning too badly. If we made the Eagle Island training on Wednesday's I could bring my barriers.

As far as those PVC barriers? MikeO likes them. I got hung up on those last year with Ron Miller, and I needed PT for six months. Give me the real ones, where when I crash, I really get banged up and bloodly and having something to really brag about.

9 AM Saturday Cross Practice. For all to try.

Doug's picture

Hi all:
We have a course marked and road it tonight. We should have 2 barriers up here already, so no need to bring any up. It is a good course, grass, uphill, sand, barriers, off camber turns uphill, flats and down hills. It will work you good. :)

King Charles likes it.

We will post each week the status of this ride.

Cross Practice

For some reason I have been picked to get practices posted and running. As of last Tuesday I asked if the Tuesday/Thur set up was reasonable and the majority of riders said that they support Tuesday/Thursday as dedicated practices nights. So if there are no other whiners out there..........Just kidding Bradley. We will have Tuesday niters at Camelsback and Thursday nite at Eagle Island. On a seperate note, Doug has located an excellent course on top of the Mesa. He marked it and it is awesome. It has heavy grass, hills, off camber and tight turns. Doug and I will be there on Saturday mornings approx 9am if anyone interested. Bradley as far as Wednesday goes, Gordy and I will come out and train with you at Eagle. Gordy is hanging onto the barriers for ease of setting up. Now for the King thing comment Doug, I do remember Brian Fuller and I came away from Pocatello with a buckle. So if the buckle fits................HaHa.
